Frequently Asked Questions

What voices are available?

The available voices depend on your browser and operating system. Most systems provide several English voices, and many include voices for other languages. Click the voice dropdown to see all available options on your device.

How do I adjust the speech speed?

Use the speed slider to set the rate between 0.5x (half speed) and 2x (double speed). The default is 1x (normal speed). The change applies immediately to the next speech playback.

Can I pause and resume playback?

Yes. Click the pause button during playback to pause, then click resume to continue from where you stopped. You can also stop playback entirely, which resets the position to the beginning.

What does the pitch control do?

The pitch slider adjusts the tone of the voice from 0.5 (lower) to 2 (higher), with 1 being the default. Lower pitch produces a deeper voice, while higher pitch creates a more elevated tone. This works with most but not all voices.

Does text-to-speech work offline?

It depends on your browser and system voices. Some voices are built into the operating system and work offline, while others are cloud-based and require an internet connection. Local voices typically have shorter names in the voice selector.
