Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Password Policy Checker?

The Password Policy Checker is a browser-based tool that validates passwords against security policies including minimum length, uppercase and lowercase letters, digits, special characters, and common password patterns. It provides a visual strength meter and real-time feedback.

What password rules does it check?

It checks six rules: minimum 8 characters, at least one uppercase letter, at least one lowercase letter, at least one digit, at least one special character, and whether the password matches common patterns or commonly used passwords.

How does the strength meter work?

The strength meter calculates a score based on how many of the six policy rules your password passes. The meter fills proportionally and changes color from red (weak) through orange and yellow to green (strong) based on the percentage of rules satisfied.

Does the tool detect common passwords?

Yes, the tool checks your password against a list of commonly used passwords like "password", "123456", and "qwerty", as well as common keyboard patterns and sequential characters.

Is my password sent to any server?

No. All password checking happens locally in your browser. Your password is never transmitted to any server, ensuring your credentials remain completely private and secure.
